What is Divine holy day?
Every day, as human beings, we are doing our best to find a path that leads us towards what is good in a world full of distractions. In recent times it has become more and more important for people to learn some form of self-reflection through meditation and mental wellness practices. Many have turned to things like yoga, quiet sitting meditations, and therapy to ease their minds and gain some serenity. Within the mystery schools of Kebtah, in the Ka’at Ibi course we learn that meditation is integral to our spirituality. Ka’at Ibi translates to “Assessing the Heart and Mind.” The purpose of that assessment is to ensure that what is in the heart is understood, controlled, and directed properly so that the human being can maintain some clarity, purity, and lightness in the heart and mind. This assessment takes on many forms. One of the most important being our Divine Holy Day Zem Zem, a sitting meditation that we practice every 10 days.
We come together to purify ourselves before participating in a seated meditation where we give an offering to the divine powers of Nature and speak to our Ancestors to ask them for the things we need to fulfill our divine purpose within this life. We also practice movements and chants that help us to call on the powers of Nature and realign our spirits. This meditation serves as a reflection on our human condition, and the quality that we strive for. That peace, that purity, and lightness are states of being, which remind ourselves of the path that we are on and the importance of keeping the heart and mind stable.
